Indo SMC share analysis: financials, price trend, Kacholia stake and FY27 outlook
Indo SMC Ltd (BSE SME: 544681) more than doubled revenue to ₹309.74 crore in FY26 (Apr 2025–Mar 2026), and the stock has risen about 3.4x from its ₹149 IPO price to ₹505. This Indo SMC share analysis explains what drove that growth, where the numbers are weaker than the headline, what management said on its earnings calls, and why Ashish Kacholia keeps adding. You will also get our bear, base and bull scenarios for FY28 and a checklist for the H1 FY27 results due in the coming weeks.
- Growth is real: FY26 revenue rose 123% to ₹309.74 crore and PAT rose 92% to ₹32.38 crore; Q1 FY27 revenue (unaudited) grew 136% YoY to ₹88.12 crore.
- It is now an electrical-equipment story, not an SMC story: CT/PT products contributed ₹222 crore, about 72% of FY26 revenue.
- Cash conversion is the weak link: operating cash flow was negative ₹35 crore in FY26, and cumulative FY23–FY26 operating cash burn (₹55 crore) exceeds cumulative profit (₹53 crore).
- Guidance needs an H2 surge: FY27 guidance is ₹450–500 crore; after a ₹88 crore Q1, the remaining three quarters must average ₹121–137 crore.
- Smart money is in: Ashish Kacholia raised his stake to 3.03% (about ₹35 crore at current prices) in the June 2026 quarter, even as anchor-era institutions cut holdings.
What does Indo SMC do?
Indo SMC makes power-distribution hardware that state electricity boards and EPC contractors buy: current and potential transformers (CT/PT), metering cubicles, bus ducts, feeder pillars, and SMC/FRP meter boxes and gratings. The Ahmedabad-based company was incorporated in September 2021 and listed on the BSE SME platform on 21 January 2026.
The name hides the real mix. SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) and FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic) were the starting point, but management told investors SMC revenue is shrinking while higher-value electrical products drive growth.
| Division | Key products | Role in the story |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical components | HT/LT CTs, PTs, metering cubicles, HT bus ducts, VFD panels | ~72% of FY26 revenue (CT/PT ₹222 crore); the growth and margin engine |
| SMC | Energy-meter enclosures, SMC sheets, chequered plates | Legacy base; revenue declining per Q4 FY26 call |
| FRP | Moulded and pultruded gratings, cable trays, rods | Small today; pultrusion capacity being added for railways and exports |
The company runs four plants across Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, sells in about 20 states and had 332 employees as of November 2025. Revenue is concentrated: in Q1 FY27 the Nashik plant produced ₹64.68 crore, or 73% of revenue, against ₹21.46 crore from Ahmedabad.
The demand driver is India's distribution-grid upgrade, where discoms are replacing meters, adding substations and buying metering equipment under central schemes. That makes Indo SMC a first-order supplier to discom capex rather than a consumer-facing electricals brand like Havells or Polycab.
